Do you want to excite all levels of students in Genetic Engineering? Experienced with bacterial transformation, but want to take the activity to a new level? Join other Bay Area bioscience educators for a day of hands-on learning. This event will be facilitated by an experienced high school teacher, Elizabeth Doggett (San Mateo High School), as she takes you through the tried and tested technique of bacterial transformation appropriate for emerging English Language Learners and general biology students. We will also isolate our new BABEC fluorescent colors using an easy affinity purification technique, also appropriate for general biology students. Learn how other biotech educators have aligned the bacterial transformation lesson with the updated NGSS while exploring fun colors and varying levels of difficulty.
