Micropipetting

Micropipetting

Several layers of learning are built into the second of the “Getting Started” series. Students first learn the concept of small volumes by comparing different types of volumetric measurement tools (beakers, graduated cylinders, etc). They then learn to use a micropipettor and make their own “pipette art” using fixed volumes. The lesson advances to micropipetting various volumes of colored water to make a rainbow array. The final outcome is proper use and comfort in using micropipettors.
